It would not put out any cold water, just hot water. That made the washer unable to perform the Rinse cycle because it uses cold water for that (but I used a redneck workaround and just ran my cold water into the washer basket with the hose coming over the top of the machine from the wall). My wife flooded our washroom several times using the "cold water hose" method to fill the washer, so I decided to fix the problem to save her the hassle.This inlet valve was an exact replacement part for the one I took out of the washer. The solenoid doohickey that the cold water hose was supposed to connect to on my old valve was all rusted, while the hot one was not. If your washer won't put out one or the other hot/cold water, check the inlet valve. Be sure to find your washer's model number to search for parts for it - that's how I found the proper part. A service call was out of the question being out in the hill country. I searched for parts and found the best price on Amazon. A few days later the washer is back at work, all is well again.
